Class Three 2018

Autumn Term – Victorian Britain

Our main topic over the Autumn Term is the Victorians. We will be learning about what life was like for children in Victorian Britain.

In Maths we will be looking at place value. The Year 3’s will be learning about different ways to represent numbers as well as comparing numbers up to 1000. Year 4 will be introduced to Roman Numerals as well as learning how to round numbers.

To link to our main topic we will be looking at the story of Oliver Twist in Literacy. We will be watching parts of the old film version to support our writing.

We are very lucky this term to have Mr Smith from Lincoln City Football club coming in every Monday afternoon to teach us some tag rugby.

Our Science topic for this term is Electricity. As well as looking at the dangers of electricity we will also be making and testing our own electrical circuits. This will also link in to our DT project where we are going to make a Victorian house that lights up!

Here is a list of the Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling words which the children will be taught over the year and tested on regularly.

If you can practise spelling these at home it will really help their writing.
