Diocese of Lincoln Vision for Schools:
During the Spring term we have been learning about chocolate.
In History we have discovered what life was like for the Ancient Maya civilisation and how they were the first people to discover cacao.
As part of this topic we went on a fantastic trip to the city of York. We visited York Chocolate Story.
At the Chocolate Story we had brilliant day learning about the origins of chocolate, the process of making chocolate and, of course, got to sample lots of chocolate!
We also made own our chocolate lollies and edible wallpaper.
During the second half of the spring term we will be reading and doing lots of literacy learning about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.
In Maths we will be revisiting the topic of multiplying and dividing to deepen our understanding of this concept.
We will also be undertaking a DT project designing our own chocolate bars. This will include doing lots of market research before coming up with our own inventions.
In PE we are very lucky to have a coach from Lincoln City coming in to help us develop our tag rugby techniques on a Monday afternoon.
On a Friday afternoon we will be doing some dance and movement learning.
Our geography topic is also linked to our main topic of chocolate as we will be studying Brazil. We will be learning about the human and physical geography of the country and why it is such a big producer of cacao.
Here is a list of the Year 3 and 4 statutory spelling words which the children will be taught over the year and tested on regularly.
If you can practise spelling these at home it will really help their writing.
This is the long term planning for the academic year 2017 – 2018.
